At the moment, buy pork. I just got back from the supermarket, where big packages of pork loin chops were Buy 1 Get 2 Free, and ribs were Buy 1 Get 1 Free. I got about 4 dozen thick cut pork chops and 2 full racks of ribs for $30. With the fish, the venison sausage, and the turkey already in our freezer, we have enough meat to last us through the summer.

I buy frozen chicken breasts and save lots of money that way.

HyVee occasionally has good deals on chicken thighs and those weeks I make baked chicken.

Otherwise Fareway has the best deals on the quality meat.

Last fall we bought 1/4 of a cow which saved us money as well.

If you have room in the freezer meat is almost always on sale for July 4th and Super Bowl sales.

I buy meat in bulk and split into family size meals and freeze.

Buy the store brand of frozen chicken breast.

Buy the manager specials.

I often buy twice as much when there is a special and freeze it. I think if you know your prices per lb, when you're in a different store, you can see right away if something is a good deal or not. I often buy meat at Costco and BJ's, because the prices can be so much better. I'm also happy to buy larger cuts of meat and cut them down myself, which often can save money as well.

Our supermarket in town usually has good sales so I try to stock up if I can. I also buy walmarts frozen chicken. I also look for reduced meat at walmart, sometimes you can find really great deals that way. I always check my sale ads on sunday and wednesday!

I like to buy organic or hormone/antibiotic free ground beef. I have been getting it for $1.99/lb at Kroger lately. I have noticed that they mark it down the day before the date on the package around 10:30 am. When I am running low on meat, I will make a note of the date of the majority of the packages and come back the day before and I will usually buy all that they have (8-10 packages) and freeze it. I even got a package free the other day with a store coupon.

I usually buy frozen chicken breasts from Sams club as a big bag will last us for a long time. Other meats I only buy if they are on sale for a really good price.

I buy in bulk and I only buy when it is on sale.. luckily there always seems to be boneless, skinless chicken breast on sale in our area and that is what we eat the most.

I also stock up whenever there is a big sale.. we have 1-2 meatless meals a week, usually when DH is working late,

I do whatever one mentioned above. Also dont forget that you can also cut back on the amount of meat that recipes call for. My family cant tell the difference when I make spagetti if I use one pound or 1/2 pound. You can do this for lots of recipes that call for any type of meat.
I believe that some gals here substitute ground turkey meat for recipes that call for hamburger. I myself have not tried this yet.
