Besides going on a full stomach and sticking to your list, do you have any advice/tricks?

Leave dh and the kids at home.

If I'm only getting a few items I just get a basket and skip the cart.

Those are some good tips! Also, another strategy is to only bring as much cash as you'll need.

I bring a drink w/ me, usually water that way when I get thirsty I've got it covered.
