Do you think you save more shopping at an actual grocery store (i.e. HyVee) that produces a sales flyer(using that to make your list) or going to the super centers such as Target and Walmart to do your grocery shopping?

Yes I do because alot of the times the loss leaders are MUCH cheaper at the grocery store. PLUS I can use coupons and they will get doubled, as opposed to Walmart that will only take the face value of the coupon.

I save the most by buying sale items and loss leaders at the grocery store, useing as many coupons as possible, then filling in the odds and ends (items NOT on sale) I need at Walmart.

I also find that using the two or more store approach works best and I'm lucky they all are on the same road so no driving all over heck.

I agree grocery stores have better lost ltr sales but remember walmart will price match even if its say a hy vee brand walmart will give you their store brand for that price. wich I have done before on things that don't matter to me like cleaners buns stuff like that.

I find that most of the time, the prices at Albertson's and Winn Dixie are competitive with the prices at Sprawl-Mart. Plus at Albertson's, a portion of the amount I spend gets donated back to my church, so I feel like I'm getting a bonus.

Target's grocery department doesn't carry a lot of the brands that I'm picky about, and when they do, they're more expensive. I don't shop Target for groceries.

Remember: This varies from store to store. I tried to pricematch Shoprite bread with Great Value bread, and they would NOT let me do it.

This is the same approach I use. I buy the loss leaders at Cashwise(local grocery store) and then if we need anything else, I pick it up at Walmart or sometimes even Target if they are running a good sale.
