General tips:

The pkg of bone/skinless chicken run from $6 to $8 average in our store and contain 3-4 breasts....these can easily be cut in 1/2 to filets and you double the amount you have for the $$$ you spent.

I like to do this,still pound the halves nice and thin dip in yellow mustard(or dijon works great...whatever ya have really will work )dredge in bread crumbs reg or Italian work(you can also skip the mustard and use milk or egg wash then add a dash or 2 of onion and garlic powder to bread crumbs)and pan fry in a little butter or Pam spray.(ever a squeeze of lemon over the top before serving is great)

(***This works great also over pasta and ragu alfredo when it's on sale 5 for $5...makes for a great kid friendly meal for approx $3-4 dollars)

Brownie Mix for $1 makes for a great dessert for 2-3 days for everyone also.
Add a scoop of the (on sale)Breyers to make it fancy
(use a glass to cut out nice round from the center for eating then ,if your edges get a little hard cut them up and layer in glasses w/pudding for a quick n frugal truffle...top of w/a dollop of whippped cream or cool whip.

The pasta or even rice a roni made w/a small handful of leftover meat from last nights dinner can also make for a great size portion for lunch for kids.

HOT SPOT ITEMS FOR COUPONS:

in my store right now...you can find:

.50 off 1 coupon for Kraft box Italian Pasta salad(it doubles and they are 5/$10 so final price is $1 a box)

Also on the Betty Crocker Cakes is .50 off BC Frosting...it also doubles so final costs is .56

Old El Paso Dinner Kits have coupons....B2 products(any)get 1 free taco season packet

You can also get $3 off 1 of the new Ziploc shrink machines(on sale a week ago for 7.99.......I got 2 ~final cost of $4.99ea and put back for xmas gifts)

They also have one of the machines set up by the hot dogs...for free Sara Lee buns wyb 2 Ballpark products.

~~~RECIPE IDEAS FROM THIS WEEKS AD~~~
CANNED PINK SALMON ON SALE FOR $1.99 A CAN
1 can salmon
2 eggs
1/3-1/2 C crushed ritz crackers
2 TSP parsley flakes
red pepper flakes(to taste)
salt & pepper(to taste)
Drain salmon,remove skin,bones,mash up with fork.
Add rest,mix together (should be stiff enough to form patties, but not too dry).
Form into patties,place in a hot skillet, sprayed w/pam.
Cook until golden brown on both sides.
or try Ruthies salmon patties...
SALMON PATTIES
16 oz pink salmon, canned
1 egg
1/3 c onion, minced
1/2 c flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 c vegetable oil, for frying
Drain salmon. Set aside 2 Tablespoons juice in mixing bowl. Mix together salmon, egg, and onions until sticky. Stir in flour. Add baking powder to juice, then stir into salmon mixture. Form into small patties. Fry until golden brown.
(pair w/a salad from the fresh express BOGO sale and you have a great healthy meal)
BOGO Bone/Skinless Chicken Breast
Take a day off from cooking and get out the crock pot!!!!
try...BEB9872 crock pot Lemon Garlic Chicken~
4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1/3 cup lemon juice
1/4 cup water
garlic powder
Spray inside of crock-pot with non-stick spray and layer chicken in crock-pot. In another bowl mix the lemon juice, water and garlic powder together. (I love garlic so I also sprinkled it onto the chicken). Pour liquid over chicken and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 4. YUM!
or my crock pot Ranch Chicken
just layer bone/skinless chicken breast in your crock pot and sprinkle w/ a .7oz pkg of dry ranch mix and cook on low 4-5 hours...tastes great and your ENTIRE house will smell fantastic!
(Either one of these chicken recipes could be paired w/the rice/pasta roni thats on sale 10/$10......add some 3/.99 corn on the cob and it's a great frugal meal)
Corn on the cob 3/.99
Corn on the cob is like popcorn...you can do alot more with it than butter and salt
Try cajun butter...
mix 1/2 c butter(margarine is fine)
and 3-5 Tbs cajun seasonings.
Smear on hot cooked corn and enjoy.
You can also sweat some minced garlic in butter and use that.
our kids also like to sprinkle it w/parmasean cheese.
20/$10 Yoplait Yogurt Cups
aside from making great frozen treats for the kids........yogurt is also a great way to stretch fresh fruit.....it only take about 3 sliced up good sized strawberries to make a yogurt alot more filling.....healthy......and will help stretch the 2/$5 strawberries
!!! HELP SET OTHER BUDGETS ALSO !!!
Another great idea you can do is buy gift cards.....not only as gifts but as a way to limit your own spending as well.
For example........you can get McDonalds gift cards there as well....if you have a habit of eating out......by a gift card and limit yourself to only spending the amount on the card in fast food purchases.
If you're able to force yourself to stick with it(and ,for me,I'm a sucker for their iced coffees)you will not only be saving yourself from overspending in certain areas but you are also putting that money towards your gas savings.(at least if you're near a Get-Go...right now I am up to 2.10 off of gas)
I'm using McDonalds as an example...but check it out they have TONS to choose from.
