...if not BETTER than their brand-name counterparts? Which products have you tried and would highly recommend?

MUCH prefer the chocolate chip slice and bake type cookies in the Walmart brand over the Pillsbury or Nestles! They are great and much less expensive. I think it is under the Great Value label (in a purple wrapper).
They are the best!

I might be the odd man out, but I think that the Aldis brand Mac & Cheese is just as good if not better than KraftWhile I dont eat it like the kids I have had a few sample tastes!

I do buy alot of Great Value Products at Walmart and I do think they are just as good! I buy the juice boxes, the milk, butter, dairy products, and esspeically the pasta. My dh LOVES thier Zesty Italian dressing, he swears its the best he has ever had. I've bought thier pasta sauce and for 1.50, it is delicious.

I like Great Value from Wal*Mart. Locally, we have Shur-fine and Shurfresh that I buy all the time.

I also buy a lot of Great Value items from Walmart. About the only thing we've tried and haven't liked was the graham crackers....they tasted like cardboard!

IMO almost all store brands are just as good if not better than the name brand items. My dh's favorite spaghetti sauce ever is Aldi's. I also buy Aldi's mac and cheese, noodles and sauces, stuffing, canned raviolis, spaghettios, etc. No one knows the difference. I prefer the HyVee brand of hamburger helper over the Aldi's brand though. I can't really tell the difference from the Betty Crocker brand. If you come to my house you will see very few of the "name" brand items!!!

To me, I buy a lot of "basic" foods--not a lot of processed stuff. So, the Publix carton of oatmeal is exactly the same as Quaker. It's only once you get into processed stuff where a recipe is actually used that you get into problems. I think the quality of store brands today is excellent, so it's just a matter of taste for the recipe.

To that end, the Publix "Green Wise" line of more natural products is fabulous!

To me, all Publix generic is as good as name brand. SuperTarget brands (Market Pantry) are pretty good too. I especially like their paper towels - they remind me of Bounty. There have been a few Walmart things I didn't like (shredded cheese and canned salmon, off the top of my head)

Target brand frozen green beans are better than the Bird's Eye, I think.
