Anyone here from Canada? what stores do you shop at? Have you found any good deals?

I used to shop at Food Basics before I moved. Now We only have a Loeb or Indepandant here.

There is a No Frills in another town and I car pool with my Mom and go once a week. (About 15 Km from where I live). It's cut about $30 off my weekly grocery budget. (Only worth it when we carpool).

I'm not a huge fan of Food Basics. The prices are good but the quality often isn't and then I find I have to go to another store to make up for what I couldn't get.

I also like the Great Canadian Superstore. I go there with an open mind as their sales are great but their regular priced items are just regular. It's a lot cheaper than Loblaws though. eg Bagels at the GCS are .50 cents each, bananas are .49 cents a lb. At Loblaws, bagels are .69 cents each and bananas are .59 cents a lb. Almost everything is 10-20 cents cheaper at the Great Canadian Superstore so if I'm shopping just once a week, it's worth the drive (about 10 KM from where I live).

I flip between superstore and walmart. Although Price Smart when it has deals blows superstore out of the water... Trouble is that they are all unadvertised.. So you got to go to the store to find the deals and you never know what they will be.
