I love the summer season because you can ALWAYS find a great deal on fresh produce! The winter months make it tough, but summer seems to be a lot more easier on the pocketbook!

Today at my local commissary they had 2 16 ounce cases OF STRAWBERRIES FOR $2.00!!!!!

That is incredible!

And believe it or not, the berries weren't all battered and bruised or rotten. SHOCKER!

I grabbed a few to cut up and have with some pound cake and a am hoping to eat the others randomly throughout the week! The boys are loving it too!

Here is one of my alltime favorite snacks:

1 1/2 cups of vanilla low fat yogurt
1/2 cup chopped up strawberries
handfull of blueberries
small drizzle of honey
top with granola!

Yum!

I'm heading to post tomorrow and will have to make a stop at the commissary to see if they have any of those available! My kids LOVE strawberries and I like to make popsicles out of extras.

16 oz strawberries
1 tablespoon honey
16 oz container of plain or vanilla yogurt

Blend all ingredients together, place in popsicle containers or in paper cups and freeze. I love these because my 16 month old can eat one without it melting all over and making a huge mess.

that sounds pretty tastey...and easy to make. I may have to try it. Thanks!

I know a great smoothie recipe, similar to an Strawberry/Banana Orange Julius

2 cups of cut up strawberries
1 banana
2 scoops of vanilla ice cream or frozen yogurt
1/2 cup orange juice

Blend in a blender!
