What items do you find you can get the best deal on to buy ahead? How much do you buy when you find that great deal?

I do canned goods and things like Hamburger helper and other boxed things. I just keep enough to fill the space I have.

Almost everything non perishable! I get free toothpaste/brushes, mouth rinse, even some medicines all the time at CVS....I get them everytime. Once I have a good stash, I give them to my parents who never get deals like this. I also stock up on bread. When I get a sales ad that is .50/loaf or less I get around 4-6 loaves. They freeze nicely and I never run out of bread!! Oh and disposable diapers!

Cereal, toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, shampoo, toilet paper, canned foods, condiments, frozen vegetables, meat, dishwasher detergent, laundry detergent, dish detergent, pasta, canned goods, razors and vitamins.

I have a baby stockpile now but am getting better and better at spotting deals and finding coupons, and as a result my stockpile is growing.

My favorite part of stockpiling is being able to donate freely to charity. When the postal service did their food drive I was able to donate more food than I normally do because of my stockpile.

I start with emergency supplies, ya know, items that you might need in a power outage or some other emergency:

~ first aid supplies (bandages, hydrogen peroxide, etc)
~ TP (I buy a case which lasts us a long time)
~ Paper towels, garbage bags, zip lock bags
~ bottled water
~ cleaning supplies (bleach and wet wipes in case we lose the well)
~ toiletries, those extra toothbrushes come in handy when you have an unexpected overnight guest

Lastly, I stockpile food starting with canned foods which last longest and are more inexpensive to store. I have a host of recipes I can make out of just shelf stable foods.

Let I store rice because even if it gets buggy I can wash it and it is still edible. After that, beans and dried legumes.
