Just a reminder to always check out the clearance racks and discontinued items. They had some Kelloggs Fruit Snacks marked down to .50 a box because they were coming out with new packaging. I bought all of them AND used my coupons on them, making them FREE.

And of course the day old bakery items are always a great find. I found grinder rolls at Walmart marked down to .75, I bought them and tossed them in the freezer. These make terrific garlic breads too!

And if they mark down meat because of the sell by date, its STILL GOOD! As long as you bring it right home and either cook it right away or freeze it, its a GREAT bargain. I usually buy the hamburger when its marked down, cook it off and then freeze it for upcoming meals.

Yes, I agree this is a great reminder, our Walmart always has 4 sections of markdowns in the grocery department: one is for the bakery items at 40% markdown, the other is in the meat department, the frozen food end cap and then sometimes down by the Mexican food they will have items.
Another thing I learned at Walmart is say for example you are looking at a package of lunchmeat and you look at the tag to find the price if there is a "D" behind the price that means they are discountinuing that item and have it marked down.
