Rain checks is one of those things we sometimes tend to forget......

It costs nothing(but a min or 2 of standing in line while someone fills it out)
and they(at least at my store)don't come w/an expiration date(you just wanna use them in a reasonable time frame from the issue date though)

Ive gotten raichecks on really good sale items that I didn't have a coupon for at the time to hold onto for a week or 2 on the off chance maybe I COULD find some.

Also,I've done it on weeks I'm a little short and maybe wanna pick up the following week.

Anyway.....just a reminder to keep rainchecks in mind when shopping

We've found lately that stores around us are putting expiration dates on rain checks - if they give them at all. Usually it's a month from the date of issue. We try to wait until we have a coupon for the item but if we don't get one and it's about to expire, we go ahead and use it.

Unless I am in a great big hurry to get out of the store, I ask for a raincheck. I ask even if the store is fully stocked with every kind but the flavor/size I want.
Many times I'm able to trade for some extra coupons to get even more of the item than I'd originally planned.
My usual grocery store's rainchecks expire in 60 days. Walgreens and CVS have no expiration.

Thanks for posting this, I always get frustrated when the store doesn't have a sale item, especially when I have a really good coupon, but I never thought to ask for a raincheck.

Rain checks for dummies, please!
So as I understand from the first post, if the item I want is on sale and do not have the coupon for it, but I know I can get some, I go where and ask for the rain check? What is a rain check? We do not have this in Europe so I have no idea about it. Thanx !

Are you able to get rain checks even if they are no out of somrthing? That's what is sounds like, but my store won't do that. I never tought of the flavor as a reason to get rain check, thanks to who posted that. I have only gotten rain checks on the frees with coupons, thanks for the reminder.

ok..let me see.......

a rain check is...

basically a piece of paper filled out with the item and the sale price at that point in time that allows you to buy THAT item at THAT price when it comes back into stock(even if that particular sale has ended)

Now I am in no way sure if they do this practice in Europe but it's worth finding out about

also...

It may just depend on the stores policy...but I have never had anyone inquire as to weather or not the item was out of stock when I asked for something....I just ask for it and they give it.(Now that may be a "lucky me" thing...but it's worth at least trying at your store)

I have no problem asking for Rainchecks if the item is out of stock, my stores have always made sure they had none!

I will be using some tomorrow from last weeks sale

I had coupons for all the items!
