Found it. I don't know where I got this from, it is written down in my homemade cookbook. Read my notes at the bottom
Chicken & Dressing Without the Chicken
1/2 pound ground beef
1 egg, beaten
chopped onion
1 can chicken noodle
2 c. dry crumbs
1 c. milk
1.2 t sage
salt and pepper
Mix all ingredients together. Turn into greased casserole dish and bake at 325 for 40 minutes.
I have to double this to be enough for our family, I believe I have omitted the chicken noodle soup and milk before and just used cream of chicken.
I don't ever recall using regular bread crumbs. I thought I used stale bread or stuffing mix(not stove top, but I am sure you could use it if you like it). It doesn't say to cook the hamburger ahead of time, but from what I remember I think I did. I can't imagine it working without cooking the meat first. Also, since I usually use plain bread, I like extra seasoning. I use poultry seasoning sometimes instead of sage.
