It's not even November I know...but Thanksgiving is a big deal at our house. This year we are hosting 23 (possibly 27) people, so I start planning early.

So far I am planning this menu ~

Turkey (or 2 if I can't find a large one)
Wild Rice Stuffing
Sweet Corn
Mashed Potatoes/Gravey
Fruit Salad
Cranberry something or another (not sure what recipe yet)
HomeMade Rolls
Fresh Veggies, Olives, Pickles, etc...
Pumpkin, Apple & (3rd kind) Pie

Drinks: Mulled Wine, Mulled Cider, Misc other grown up beverages, Coffee

It's pretty a pretty traditional menu. We may try to throw something else new in there - just not sure what...

I am doing Thanksgiving this year. We usually go other places but can't this year. So people have to come to us.

I found a recipe for making garlic smashed potatoes in the crockpot that I am going to try in an effort to make it less stressful for me as I will be gone a lot before the big day.

Oh, I don't do stuffing .... I don't like it - probably need to learn how to make it for DH but yech.

Most of our holiday get-togethers are potluck style. So, I will assign people some things to bring.

Yes, my sister and I split the food duties for our Thanksgiving celebration. My MIL has a similar menu, but I only bring one or two things (typically the sweet potatoes and pies)

Roast Turkey
Gravy
Bread Stuffing
Wild Rice, Apricot and Cranberry Dressing

Oven Baked Mashed Potatoes (family recipe of mashed potatoes baked with cheese, herbs etc)
Sweet Potato Casserole
Zucchini Casserole
Baked Corn Casserole

She and I are trying to decide if we're doing these two veggies or just one...or none. LOL

Fresh Green Beans (typically steamed)
Fresh Carrots (shredded, sauteed in butter and brown sugar)

Cranberry Sauce
Cranberry Relish
Fresh Rolls, Croissants & Butter

Pies
Gingerbread
Creme Brulee
Cranberry Noel

No. I am due right before Thanksgiving so I will not be making any holiday meals! I think dh might order a meal from Honey Baked Ham or Publix.

Not yet. At this time I have NO clue what we or any other family member is doing for Thanksgiving. Plus dh has to go out of town the day after so we want to stick close to home. Right now I am planning ds4's bday party for Nov 7. If everyone (our house and other family members) is healthy than there will be roughly 16 people over for that. My guess is that if we do have a Thanksgiving get together it will be at our house and I will cook 95% of everything. Another thing that depends on what we do is the weather. If it is crappy than no one will want to travel and I do not blame them. If it is just the six of us for Thanksgiving than maybe I will do something different than turkey and fixings.

This is our situation too. 11+ of our guests come from an hour or more away so if it's really bad I don't expect them either. The other portion of our guests are close. For us if worst comes to worst we have a LOT of leftovers

Ok Oregano ~ you need to post the recipe for the Wild Rice, Cranberry & Apricot Dressing. It sounds like it would be delish!

and M2M ~ please post the 2 layer pumpkin cheesecake recipe. That sounds like a wonderful alternative to pie!
