So I found a recipie online that I wanted to try tonight only I wanted to 1/2 it.
I remembered to 1/2 everything except the Garlic Salt!

It's so salty and garlicy that I don't want to eat it! Is there anything I can do to fix it?

Can you double what you made (minus the garlic salt) to get the proportions to even out?

Part of the reason I halved was because that's all I had in the house... Unless I freeze what I have until I get to the store for the other stuff...

Thanks Kim

If it's a dish with a lot of liquid, I've read that throwing in a raw, peeled potato will absorb excess salt. I've never tried it, so I can't vouch for it. I would think that if the potato absorbed salt, it would also absorb garlic.

Well, did it work? Did it help a LITTLE even if it wasn't 'enough'? Do tell!

I hate it when that happens!

I ruined a pot of chili last week.

I let it simmer with the potato for about an hour and I do think that it helped but not as much as I would have liked. So a good trick if you need just a little salt removed!

I have done this so many times. I am always trying to 1 and a half or double a recipe. I started to sit and write the measurements down that I need before I start making it.
