Can you re-freeze ground beef after it has been thawed in the fridge?

I would never do that. I never refreeze anything after it has thawed in the fridge. That is just me I get very nervous about food contamination. I know a girl at work who freezes and refreezes over and over again.

Nope. If you don't have time to do anything with it, just brown it as ground beef crumbles & then you can re-freeze it to put in spaghetti sauce or chili later.

NO, NO, NO, No!!!!! Did I say NO??? Refreezing allows for contamination. You are never suppsed to do that with ANYTHING. Not with ANY meats, fish, ANYTHING. When I went to cooking school, that was one of the things they talked about OVER and OVER and OVER again. Re-freezing veggies is the same. There is less chance of contamination (there is still a small chance) but, the veggies break up and get mushy. Also, with any casseroles, any cooked food at all...if it is frozen, thawed and refrozen, the fliud inside holds onto the germs, refreezes and spreads through out the entire meal when you decide to cook it.

Thanks! A friend and I had a discussion about this and I told her not to do it. She said she'll stop now.
