Here is one I make EVERY fourth of July

Make a white cake and frost it with white frosting. Layer strawberries and bluberries on so it looks like a flag. It is a fun thing to make. When I bring it out to be served, I light sparklers and put them on top of the cake.

DRESSING:
1/4 c mayo
1/4 c sour cream
1/4 c crumbled blue cheese
1 1/2 tsp milk
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp white vinegar
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp honey mustard
1/8 tsp cayenne pepper

SALAD:
2 1/2 cups uncooked penne
1 garlic clove, minced
1tsp minced fresh basil
2 Tbs olive oil
1 1/2 c fresh cauliflower
1 c cherry tomatoes, halved
3 green onions, chopped
1/4 c chopped sweet red pepper
mozzarella cheese, cut into strips (I but the 8 oz block)
2 Tbs parmesan cheese

Whisk dressing ingredients; set aside.

Meanwhile cook pasta according to package directions; rinse in cold water and drain. Transfer to a large bowl.

Saute garlic and basil in oil until garlic is tender. Pour over pasta. Add the cauliflower, tomatoes, green onions, red pepper, cheese and dressing; toss to coat. Cover and refrigerate until serving.

Here's ours I do with the kids every 4th...

Patriotic Jello Desserts
1 pkg Blue Raspberry Jello
1 pkg Whipped Cream
1 pkg Strawberry (or Cherry) Jello

Separately, prepare blue & red jello as directed (do not refridgerate). Divide blue evenly into the bottom of 4 clear plastic cups ~ set red aside on counter to cool and for later use. Place cups with blue layer in refridgerator until mostly set. Add whip cream on top to form 2nd layer ~ you won't use all the whip cream, only about 1/2 the package. Put back in the refridgerator until slightly firm. Once slightly firm, and after confirming that red jello is cooled, add red layer to the top. Return to the refridgerator until all is set.
Makes a cool yummy patriotic treat!
