Anyone else have one of these??? What do you think of it??? I am thinking of getting one. I want to get big blocks of cheese when it is on sale and shred it up myself, since it is cheaper than buying it already shredded. But I just have a flat hand held grater now and I am thinking that if I buy 2 pound blocks of cheese and try and grate it by hand, that I will no longer have any fingers left on my right hand. Than I wouldnt be able to post anything ever again on this website.

If you do have one of these, what all do you use it for??

I have one. I was so excited to get it a few years ago when they were big. What do I use it for????? Nothing. Rather than get it out and assemble, then clean all the parts, it's easier and quicker to just cut them up w/a knife.

So it'll really be up to you and your lifestyle if it's worthwhile.

I LOVE my salad shooter. My first one just died. How long did it last, you ask? Umm, only about 15 or 16 YEARS! And let me tell you, in college I used it to crush ice (hey, it was a cheap blender )!!! Now I use it mainly for cheese. It is so much better than buying a bag of shreedded cheese; can't tell you the last time we did that. I use it when I make salads too. It works great on carrots & radishes. And at the holidays it's great for crushing nuts to garnish cookies & candy. Can you tell I get excited about my Salad Shooter? hee hee hee

BTW- I just throw mine in the dish washer to clean it.

I think that you may have sold me on getting one. I know I will mainly use it to shred cheese. But to have something that can do so many other things. I think that they are a little pricey, but beings it does more than shred cheese, makes up for it. AND, if it can be throw in the dishwasher, well you just cant beat that. Thanks.

My mom has one and I love it! I have a couple diff Pampered Chef graters, a food processor (all wedding gifts), and a slicer/shredder attachment for my Kitchen Aid (free from them when my mixer broke!), and I'd pick the salad shooter over all of them, to be quite honest. It's just a lot easier to get out and use and cleanup and put away. She puts all the parts in the dishwasher and it's easy as that for cleanup.

I have one and LOVE LOVE LOVE it!! In fact, I ran across one at a garage sale for a $1 and a I bought it too!!! Just to have for when mine wears out (my first one came from a garage sale also). Some people complain that the cheese tends to get stuck and gooey, but I've never had any problems. I use mine all the time, and clean up is no big deal.
