We lived in a place that had a horrible ant problem. We used to live in an area that was orchards before the housing got built so the ants loved all the old dead fruit still in the ground. Anyway, I kept everything in the refrigerator, including sugar. It didn't stop them though.
One morning we woke up to find yet another ant attack in the refrigerator. I followed the trail and, sure enough, they were in the freezer! The ants got into the freezer about 4 or 5 inches then froze solid - . The problem was, as I had the freezer door open to clean them out, they would defrost -
It was a beautiful house but I wasn't sorry to move.
I strongly recommend getting insectide that is injected into the ground to control your problem. I don't know of anything else that really works.
