Can you can homemade spaghetti sauce (including tomatoes, spices, onions) using the hot water bath method or do you need to pressure can them? If you can, how long do you process it for in the hot water bath? Thank you!

I can spaghetti sauce every year without using either of those choices..

All I do is make the spaghetti sauce, boil the jars to sterilize them, then pour the sauce into the jars and sit upside down.

Unless that is the hot water bath method....

I have canned 3 batches already this year... I just use the hot water bath method .. I boil my jars for 20 mins. The only time you need a presure canner is if you added meat to the sauce before canning. I also just put spices, onion and garlic in my sauce. good luck also if the tops don't go down you can boil them again.

If u reboil please use a new lid. You can also put in fridge and use right away.

I would NOT use the upside down method. You have a greater chance for spoilage and you can't always tell if it's spoiled. JMO.

Thanks everyone! My MIL uses the upside down method too and although it is very tempting I want to be 100% sure since I'm new to canning.
