My kids eat the crust. They know that it is part of the sandwich and if they want a snack later, than they have to eat it all. I make sure I cover the entire piece of bread with filling. For instance, if it is PB&J, than I make sure that it gets on the bread as well as the crust, that way when they eat the crust, it isnt just plain bread.

I have 3 children. 2 eat the crust without complaint and the other (picky) one never eats it. I don't get it.

mine eat it and don't know the difference, either. I have never served it to them without, does that make a difference?

My kids have always eaten the crusts...it's never been an issue. Now that I think of it...I can't think of a child in our family or group of friends that doesn't eat crusts.

Mine have all went in spurts of eating it or not. I do not eat it most times so that may have something to do with it. I have never liked it

DD1 will eat her crusts, but DD2 won't. If I am making a sandwich for DD2 I will cut off the crusts before I put the sandwich together and I use the crusts to make my own croutons for salads and soups. I just cut them off of the bread, chop them in cubes and put them in a ziplock baggie. When the ziplock baggie is almost full I add a little Extra Virgin Olive Oil and some seasonings (Italian seasoning, or what ever) and shake the bag. Then, I lay the cubes on a baking sheet and bake them. They are a big hit in this house (and the funny thing is that DD2 love them! Isn't that odd?)
