Some ideas for this weeks holidays are:
DATE BREAD
2 1/2 cs chopped dates
1/4 c butter
1 c boiling water
1/2 c packed brown sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 c flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 c chopped walnuts
Preheat the oven to 350.
Grease and flour a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
Mix dates and butter. Pour boiling water over them, and let
stand until cool. When the dates have cooled, stir the mixture
to break up any clumps. Mix in the brown sugar and egg til
well blended. Combine the flour, baking soda, baking powder,
and salt; stir into the date mixture until just blended.
Pour into the prepared pan.
Bake for 50 minutes in the preheated oven, or until a wooden
pick inserted into the center comes out clean.
THICK CHOC SHAKES
2 c vanilla ice cream
1/2 c whole milk
1/4 c powdered chocolate drink mix
1 tsp powdered egg whites
In a blender, combine the ice cream, milk, chocolate drink
mix and powdered egg whites. Cover, and blend until smooth.
You may need to stop and stir once or twice to get it evenly
mixed.
Will be very thick.
