Default Cooking apple question

DH's friend gave him a menu to follow.
With lunch he is suppossed to eat cooked apples.
How does one cook apples without adding the tastey stuff (sugar, cin.....)?

You can core and peel them, then bake them covered with a little added water. The steam helps to keep them from getting dried out.

You can also bake them w/cider or apple juice

cinnamon/vanilla

could you use splenda???
