Help. I need some creative menu ideas for ds's birthday party.
He's turning two, and the theme of the party will be something with construction vehicles: bulldozers, cement trucks, dump trucks, etc. Even though the party is for family only, I'm still looking at about 25 people, including a handful of children under age 5. It's going to be an afternoon affair, around 3 or 3:30-ish.
I'd love to carry the vehicle theme through with the food. The only idea I have so far is little pizzas on mini-bagels to look like the big wheels of the trucks.
Any other suggestions for me?
Thanks.

I was thinking serving the food in the trucks too! Also you could have light signal or street sign cookies.I googled and came up with these too:
*Gelatin Bricks: Make the Jigglers according to recipe on the back of several flavors of Jell-O gelatin. When firm, cut into rectangular shapes. Stack "bricks" on a serving plate to resemble a colorful brick wall.
*Construction Worker's Brown Bag Lunch: Prepare a brown bag lunch for each guest, just like for real construction workers. One sandwich, bag of chips, apple and juice box with a straw makes a basic lunch. Use cookie cutters to turn the sandwiches into fun shapes.
*Truck Tires: Chocolate donuts

My friends have a little boy and they did a Contruction party. They made big orange cones out of heavy duty construction paper and flipped them over (pointing down... \/ ) and put orange napkins on the inside and served different foods in them...chips, those orange puffs worked well in them since the cones were orange...they also put corn dogs in them (called them screwdrivers).

She got REALLY creative and did a "cone cake" I think she had to bake quite a few round layers and she put them all on top of eachother with frosting in between each layer. She shaved them down to look like a cone and then She used food coloring and colored the frosting bright orange. she frosted the entire cone orange. It looked amazing, and she was happy because there wasn't any major little details that she had to add, because it was just a cone!!!

If you didn't want to do the entire cake a cone shape my idea would be to bake a sheet cake and make mini-cones out of construction paper or some hard paper and put little mini trucks, dump trucks and what ever on top of the cake with a small piles of crushed up oreo cookies (make it look like the trucks are working on the pile of dirt or building a house or something). You could also put logs on the top of the cake (pretzels) make roads with crushed up oreos, make green frosting for green grass (or you could even dye coconut green, coconut makes good lookiing grass.
