What do you all like to cook in the fall and winter? Does it vary much from what you cook in the sprink and summer?

I know for us we like stews, soups, and chilis this time of year and I tend to do alot more baking.

Ditto. All homemade soups, stews. Gonna try some new chili recipes this year.
I also do a lot more casserole dishes since when it is cold outside, I like to cook on the oven more. I still use my crock pot a lot too.

Mmmmm - I am making Chili as we speak.

I do switch over to "cooler weather cooking". This last time around making my menu I included more casseroles, and oven baked recipes.

I love to make my turkey chili in the crock pot. I put it all together in the morning and leave it on for at least 8 hours. Even my kids like this.

I do switch gears with seasonal cooking. We go back to more typical cool weather food, pot roasts, oven roasts (beef and pork), pasta dishes, soups and stews. I guess you could say it's more comfort food, the stick to your ribs because it's cool out food. I do a lot more baking, too. We eat fewer salads and cold foods in the winter. It's still hot here, but I am jonesing for an apple stuffed pork roast with mashed sweet potatoes with homemade rolls, that is one of my favorite cool weather meals.

I love to cook in the Fall and winter more than any other time of year. There is something about having the house filled with wonderful comforting smells when DH walks through the door after a long day at work. I do alot of soups and lots of crock pot cooking. Baking breads, casseroles, yummy side dishes.. OMG.. Fall is almost upon us here after the horrible heatwave we just had. I cannot wait!

I bake banana and apple things...my mom used to make apple turnovers when I was little. I start using Apple cider in baked goods. Then in October I start with pumpkin...and in November its Sweet Potatoes and then in December, its cinnamon, spices, ginger, peppermint etc.

I also start making roasts and baked chicken etc. Chili is later, and then start making squashes and heartier foods.

We tend to eat alot more casseroles and comfort food (pot roast, chili, soups, stews). However, baking is up there ... like cookies and apple pie. Went apple picking on Sat and had my first homemade pie of the season. YUMMY!

Also, I do alot of freezer cooking since I can just open my slider and put a container on the deck. I about 10-15 at a time and this way when I am done some are already frozen in "nautre's freezer" when I place them in my freezer in the basement.
