I watched Oprah today and she had Jessica Seinfeld on.
Jessica just wrote a book called Deceptively Delicious and
she was showing some of her recipes.

Anyhow, she uses purees to get veggies into her kids
foods without them knowing/tasting them. She has some great
recipes!! They sound easy too. Oprah.com has some of the
recipes listed. I'm going to try some for myself!

Good luck! I have tried this with my kids and they are too smart.

But, I am blessed with kids that will eat their vegetables plain. They just don't like them pureed for some reason.

I have many friends who swear by this though. I thought it was funny that Jessica Seinfeld was acting like she thought of this on her own when I have known people who have done this for years!!! lol

Yes, but i guess she was the first to make a cookbook out of it. You know because I am sure her and Jerry need the money. Although the profits might all be going to charity. I have it waiting on my dvr to watch.

i want to try her brownie recipe my kids like those and the kids liked them that tried them.. i think with purees you need to have good recipies that will mask the flavors. i think that is key.

Some of those recipes sound really good. I'm assuming one could cheat a little on the purees? She has you doing them from scratch--roasting beets for an hour that kind of thing. Don't you think you could buy some canned beets? I'm sure the nutrition isn't quite the same, but it'd still mostly be there. I might try the sweet potato pancakes. What I plan to do is microwave the potatoes and then puree them. Saves a ton of time!

The most interesting part of the show for me was learning about childrens taste buds and how much more sensitive they are than adults. It made sense when Dr Oz was saying they enjoy bland foods for this reason. I did feel good about making sure she gets whole grains and fiber. My girls don't know what white bread or rice looks like.
