We never use ours, so I would say yes.

No, I honestly don't think so. I use mine too much.

We mainly use ours to heat our coffee water for our instant coffee. We are installing a hot water dispenser on the sink so we can stop using the microwave. My parents have already gotten rid of their microwave. We have been learning about the health risks of the microwave and so we do want our family using it.

I can live with out one. I am one of those people that put frozen meats in the fridge to defrost. I used the mic once yesterday to heat up 1 hotdog for my son, I could have boiled some water, but that would seem like a waste for 1 hotdog.
I dont use it to often, maybe to reheat something or cook something small. Oh and once in a while Ill make some microwave popcorn, but I have the old fashioned popcorn maker (reminds me of being a kid) that I found at a thrift store and love using it to make popcorn!

Our microwave blew and I didn't replace ours for about a month and a half. It really wasn't that painful except I realized how much I rely on defrosting dinner so I just made sure I planned the night before to take the meat or whatever out to defrost in the fridge. The only time in the month and a half that I realized I needed a microwave was when I told my son we could have popcorn with the movie! Whoops!! Guess that HUGE box of microwave popcorn isn't going to work for us!!

I bought one at Walmart, a GE 1100 Watt 1.1 cubic for $67.00. Definitely inexpensive and I guess, worth it in the long run.

Funny you should mention that...ours fizzled out about 2 weeks. It hasn't been that bad. The only thing I have really missed is the popcorn!!! I love my popcorn, and I just haven't adjusted to that. I don't even have a bag of regular popcorn. I have a pop corn popper,(it was my mil), and I don't have a clue how to use it. But now that I think about it, I might just get dh to get it out and see if we can have a pop corn pop tonight or tomorrow night!!

I really like the convenience but if ours broke I dont know that I would necessarily go out and get one right away. then again, we eat a lot of leftovers and it's SO nice to be able to "nuke" one plate at a time. hmmmmm yes, I could go without it it would just be slower but I could do it. Would I want to..... not really
