I don't know how many of you out there do a grocery Budget.I do and I try really hard to stick to it.If I go under I will add that to my total for the next month and try to use it to stock up on things. If I go over I try to not spend as much the next month to make up for it.You can set what ever goal is best for you and your family.

I include~

Dog food & treats if I get them,
All food cooked in the house(not take out but you can if that is what you choose to do),
Cleaners for the home,
Pretty much what ever is on my grocery slip from the grocery store goes on here unless it is a dollar toy for the kids.

For my family of 4 I try $400.00/Month.I know it is different for everyone based on there incomes/family sizes/price of groceries.

Please join in if you already do this and if you would like to start it hop a board too.remember I do not always make my budget and go over too .It is fun to keep track of and have a goal so I don't go to crazy!

Great Idea!

I also try to stick to approximately $400 a month. I say "approximately" because my budget works slightly different. I am NOT good with budgets at all. So instead of going month to month, I go paycheck to paycheck. We take in bi-monthly, so every 2 weeks I hit the grocery store.

My budget every two weeks for our family of 6 is $200.00 (which most months is $400/month ~ except for the 2 months a year we get a 3rd check ~ confused yet?? I am too actually ) Anyway.....

This includes ~
all food I prepare in the house, lunch food for Dh & kids, and snacks
all cleaning products and beauty needs
Diapers and wipes for Josie
most often food for the cats

Last shopping trip I went overboard and blew the $200 slightly. HyVee was having an AWESOME sale so I bought more than I planned to, however, I know that we have tons of meat now ~ so my spending will be less next shopping trip ~ so it all evens out.

$200.00 (start budget)
- 94.35 (groceries/meats)
________
105.65
-103.30(WalMart balance of groceries)
________
2.35
-11.46 (Kwik Trip ~ Milk, bananas)
_______
-9.11

So I am currently $9.11 over budget this time, and I still need to go get milk this morning. But then I am good until next Friday when I shop again.

When that happens that is ok.You are stocking up and nothing wrong with that!

I also budget about $400 a month for family of 3 plus 1 dog and 2 cats. Sometimes if I pick dog/cat food up at the grocery store it is included, but I don't always do that. I also include paper products sometimes and things like stamps, medicine, greeting cards, ect. This does not happen every month, but I never go through and seperate the 2, I know I should. But if it happens at Cub Foods, I consider it grocery.

So far this month:
$400
-112. cub grocery
______

$288
-30. (stamps & milk)
_____
$258.

HyVee is a grocery store chain that started in Iowa. I think they only cover parts of some midwest states...IA, IL, IL, KS, NE, MN, SD, MO...I think that's it.

Ok - my total was at -9.11

-9.11
- 13.02 (milk)
_________
-22.13 for the period

Now I am done until next Fri. (thanks goodness!!)
