What do you use most often?

I started using ground turkey a couple years ago cause it was cheaper. At first I could tell it was ground turkey and not hamburger. Now It is the only thing I use except for when we have burgers then it has to be the real thing. In my oppion I think it is so much healtier for my family.

What do you think?

I use hamburger in most things like hamburgers, tacos, things not mixed with anything. I use ground turkey in things like spaghetti, chili, sloppy joes...

I would say I use it 1/2 and 1/2

Ground beef really grosses me out, so I use it very rarely and I don't allow my children to eat grownd beef that I have not personally cooked. This is due more to my concerns about e coli but also, your highest risk of mad cow disease (BSE) is from ground beef and although the risk is low in the US, my parents have a friend that died from it (CJD). It may not be rational but I just can't help it. I use ground turkey most of the time.

Ground beef really makes me feel yucky. In fact red meat in any form does that to me. I'm not a vegetarian or anything either. However, I have to buy and cook with it because of my husband. And the kids are pretty fond of Mr. Cow too

So I tried ground turkey; cheaper, not so damned bloody. They could totally tell. So I try to just use turkey in tacos and other places it can be mixed in and disguised. So I guess my household is much like ryans_mom10. Tonight it's stuffed jalapeño and monterey burgers. *quiver* red meat

Growing up on a farm it has to be ground beef. I can't even stomach the thought of ground turkey. Sounds so gross!

We use ground beef for everything - even burgers now. I have used it pretty exclusively for over 10 years now.

It started out when I was a poor grad student and it was so much cheaper to go with my macaroni and cheese or ramen noodles. lol

As I mentioned in another post, I mix the two together to get the best of each. I cook up about 5 lbs of meat at a time - about 1/2 turkey and 1/2 beef (whatever I have and is on sale!) and then freeze it in 1 lb chunks to help with quick meals. This way I get the flavor of the beef with the little more healthiness of the turkey. You could try mixing it too to make hamburgers - I've never tried that but I bet it would work.
