how do you go about doing this? I have a 5lb. frozen solid chicken I want to put in the Crock Pot. Can I just let it sit out safely to thaw or should I put it in the frig. I'm thinking it would take days in the frig. to thaw. Dumb, I know I'm at a loss.

Thanks

you can that it like you would a turkey......in a sink full of cold water and change the water about every 20-30 min.

I personally do let mine sit out on the sink a little while and START to that then toss in the fridge overnight and its usually fine.

It doesnt actually take DAYS.

Don't let it thaw on the counter! That's just asking for bacteria to grow. If you have time, go ahead and stick it in the fridge and it will thaw in a day or two, depending on how large it is. I've never done the cold water/sink method, but I know people do that a lot, you could try it if you need it to thaw more quickly.

I have done them all ways.... the fridge is going to take 3 days 2 then you could run water down the inside to thaw the rest of the way while rinsing out .

setting out I dont' do this much but if it is bot to warm in my house I will.

the cold water in sink I do do a lot just remeber to change the water out or it will get to cold to help.
