OK, my family (Dad's side) has decided to all get together for Thanksgiving, we are doing it 'covered dish' style & I was asked to bring the mashed potatoes, No problem!! Here are my questions......

How many pounds of potatoes should I peel, cut and boil to feed 25 people???

And, can I put the potato's in my Crockpot to help keep them warm after I make them at home and to keep them warm after we arrive at my Aunts house(but before we eat)???

TIA

I usually make a 10 lb bag for 12 people and that usually covers us w/a LITTLE left over(and my crowd LOVES mashed potatoes)

Yes...you can reheat in crock pot and I'll look for ya..I think theres a CP mashed potato recipe already there...I'll bump or repost it.

I am not sure how many?I was thinking 15-20 pounds?Maybe some one else will see this that cooks for a large crowd and could better answer it

I would make them stick them in the CP till you leave, put the CP in the vehicle and then plug it back in at your destination and they will keep fine. You need to stir them every so often.

my recipe for holiday mashed, you make them up the day before, and bake them before serving. is there any way you can make them up and place your dish in there oven to bake?? or sometimes i will bake them at home right before we leave cover with foil and they stay hot for awhile.

i usually cook one large potato per person, or 2 small ones. and we alwaus have enough to feed everyone with some left over. if i were you i would cook about 35 medium potatoes. i would heat them in the oven when you get there if its possible or do it at home right before your gonna leave and then take them there.
