I don't like the texture of fresh green beans in this dish either! I pretty much follow the campbell's recipe, but I also add the french style green beans and I stir in some of the onions into the mixture and also put some on top. My dh doesn't care for this, but I love it. Another good idea my mil had was to add about 1/2 pd of cooked ground beef into your casserole if you wanted it to be a main course item. It tastes really good that way!!

Do any of you think that frozen green beans would work??? I happen to have a bag of frozen green beans, so I want to know if I can use them or if they would get mushy?? I looked at the Campbells recipe and it just says cooked green beans doesnt make any mention if you are to use canned, fresh or frozen.

I love green bean casserole! I always use canned gr. beans, they seem to taste the best. I follow the recipe on the Campbell's soup can. Yummy

I made it last time with frozen green beans, I just had to cook it longer than 30mins. I had to cook it about 45-50mins to get the green beans to cook. Maybe you could boil them first so you don't have to cook it as long in the oven.
