Hello Ladies,
I have been thinking this over for a week and have not came up with anything. I need suggestions for Christmas Dinner. I am tired of turkey and ham. I am REALLY excited about this year because this is the first time in 8 years that I will be able to make Christmas Dinner for my family of 4. My extended family lives about 7 hours away so we always go in for Christmas. Every year we have to take in my children's gifts from Santa plus everyone elses which is a BIG hassle. But this year will be different because my daughter found out about Santa so my little family of 4 will celebrateour Christmas eve on Dec 14th and "Santa" will come that night. And on Saturady morning after presents I will begin work on our Christmas dinner.
Problem is we are tired of turkey and ham and will be having that Christmas week when we go to visit family. The only thing I could get my husband, son of 18yrs old and 8 yr old daughter to tell me is that they would like mexican cornbread. I want the dinner table to be beautiful and I am so excited that I get to use my Christmas dishes I just have no idea what to fill them with. I need some suggestions. The only thing my daughter won't eat is onions and broccoli.
I await your advice..
Blessings, MsJoyce

When I was with the ex his mom used to do lasagna for Christmas. We didn't have it that often so it was a treat. Although I would never mention it to DH, I still sometimes think about the lasagna at Christmas and miss it.

We always did turkey for Tgiving & ham at Xmas/Easter. At one point we got tired of ham at Easter, so we started switching it around. Sometimes we would do lamb, other times we did a pork loin. One time I did a pork loin and also a really big salmon. Pork is nice with applesauce.

For Christmas its usually just DH, myself, our 4 kids, MIL & FIL and we usually do not do the traditional Christmas dinner. In the past we had tacos with homemade salsa and chips and dips, steak and baked potatoes, baked pork chops, hamburgers cooked on the grill, homemade potato soup with a big salad.

At my folks, we do the traditional thanksgiving dinner, again at christmas, which i loveeeee, but at christmas at the inlaws, we usually do a surf and turf or something of the like. Usually it's lambchops (or steak) and king crab legs....yes, they go all out. But it's wonderfully delicious.

WE actually have BRUNCH for Christmas day. It worksout really well. It started because the last fewyears I've had to work Christmas evening, so this way I didn't have to rush through dinner to run to work. This year I don't have to work, but we like the brunch thing so much we are gonna continue.
We have French Toast Casserole
Roasted Potatoes (butter and onion soup mix)
Broccolli/Bacon Quiche
Bacon/Sausage/Ham
Muffins/Cinnamon Rolls
Fruit
Coffe/juice/Mamosa
This has been a lot of fun to do. My mom makes the casserole and the quiche at her house, and brings it to my house to cook. I make everything else. Then after we clean up, we open presents and just lounge around, instead of rushing for dinner. I keep snacks around like shrimp cocktail, and cheese and crackers to much on through out the day. WE have pie and cookies later on when we would be having our big meal.

For me turkey is for Thanksgiving only. Christmas isn't Christmas without enchiladas, tamales, rice and beans.

With my family, we have done all sorts of things for Christmas dinner. #1 Prime rib was always a big hit. #2 Crab legs, shrimp cocktails, twice baked potatoes, corn on the cob. #3 A big pot of my Baked potato soup, beer bread, veggie tray and some other munchies. This Christmas if we spend it at dh's mom's side of the family, they decided that they just wanted to do strickly munchies. Maybe a pot of chili or potato soup. This is because there will be so many people and everyone can come and go and there is NO rush to feed everyone at the same time. Pick your family's favorite meal and think how to step it up a knotch.
If we stay home, I think I will actually do a turkey for us because #1 I have two in the fridge and a coupon for a free one and #2 we didnt get much turkery on Thanksgiving.
