Ok I have this great bread machine that was given to me and I only know how to make pizza crust well. My questions are:

1. Why can't I cut the loafs into sandwich slices? When I do it falls apart? Did I do something wrong? The bread taste good it just doesn't work for sandwiches.

2. Do you have to use bread flour or can I use all purpose flour? I currently use bread flour but there is no fiber in it and we usually eat double fiber bread.

3. Is it really any cheaper to make bread than it is to buy it?

1. I don't have a good answer for this one. Maybe it's your recipe? Hmmmm...?

2. I have used both. You should use bread flour, but I have used all-purpose flour and have still gotten decent results.

3. Well, that depends on the recipe. If you have to add a lot of special ingredients, it might not be. But I have a discount bread store here in town that charges 50-cents or less for loaves of bread. It's an outlet owned by our local bread factory.

Is the bread cool when you're trying to cut it? Are you using a serrated knife? What happens when you do try to cut it?

Yes...you can use all-purpose flour, but bread flour has a higher gluten content. Where are you getting your bread recipes?

Hard to say...depends on what kind of bread you buy, how you make your bread etc

What kind of machine do you have? Have you tried visiting their website for tips/information?

Found some links that might help:

Maybe that is it, I need to let the bread cool before trying to cut it. I have a bread knife and that is what I am using but the bread seems to flake when I am cutting it. I never thought about it being to hot. I will try another and see if that makes any difference. The bread tastes good but it is not for sandwiches. By the way it is a toastmaster brand and I have the directions that came with it and the receipes but they just don't say anything except what ingredients you need. It doesn't say either about the bread flour or not, this machine is a few years old if that helps any. I have been using bread flour because it makes a difference in the pizza crust for some reason.

Thank you for the advice and I will check the sites you gave me and see what I can figure out.

Wow if I could get loaves of bread that cheap I probably wouldn't be trying this. It is fun though and the house smells great!!

Thank you for your help.

We make bread every now and again with ours but it is mainly used for pizza dough. Makes great pizza dough!

My mom gave me her machine a while back and I finally used mine for pizza crust tonight. I don't really think that it is any cheaper to make the bread, but like you said it smells amazing and tastes awesome.
