I love my stock pot. I use it all the time.. soups, boiled dinners, boiling corn on the cob.

Before I got my smooth top stove last year, I would say my cast iron skillet. I had to get a stainless one to replace it and I use it almost every day.. however I don't like it as much as the cast iron.

My 5 quart Magnalite Professional pots that were wedding presents almost 20 years ago. We received two and kept both. I don't think they make them anymore. They're heavy duty, the lids are heavy and fit well, and I can use them on the stovetop or in the oven.

Why couldn't you use your cast iron on the smooth top? I was about to get a cast iron--I have been wanting one for years--but we have a smooth top stove. Is there something I don't know?
