The leg broke off my crockpot. This crockpot was 13 years old and well used (at least once a week). The stoneware is still in good shape but I doubt I can find a replacement slow cooker.

What brand do you have? Do you like the smart-pot? They have so many options to chose from.

Mine was a wedding gift and I love it! I hope it never breaks! I don't even know the name of it, lol!

i'm so sorry for your loss...

i have a farberware i think.. i love it!

i also have a generic baby one that i got on black friday for dips and smaller meals and i think i actually like that one better than my big one!!

just make sure you get one with different temps.. it makes life sooo much easier.

Oh no! My condolences to your family
I have a smart pot, I wanted a programmable one when I was working. Now that I'm not working, it's not necessary. Mine only has four settings to choose from, High 4 or 6 hours and Low 8 or 10 hours. Then after that time, it switches to "warm" (which is almost like low on mine, I find the dish continues to cook some).
When I use it I often set it to High 4 hours or Low 8 hours, and then turn it off when the dish is done, I find it cooks on the hotter side so things cook quicker then many recipes call for. I actually like that about it, I know if the recipe calls for 8 hours on low, and I only have 6 hours, the dish will most likely be done in time and it can cook chicken cattiatore, pork ribs or italian meatloaf in 3 hours on High.
If I was buying a new one now, I would probably get a large crock pot, and I wouldn't put out the extra money for a smart pot. I guess it will come in handy when I go back to work someday.

ETA: I WORK my crock pot, I've had it for over 3 years and use it 2-3 times a week, so the "crock pot" brand has been reliable for me.

I had one that was 12 years old when it finally broke. I bought one at Target last year to replace it for around $30 - it was a Rival and the outside was stainless steel. That piece of junk didn't even last 6 months before it broke. I need a new one but don't know what to buy. I hope someone will give you good advice. I can't seem to get it into my head that I don't have a crock pot because every week I buy something at the store that I usually make in the crock pot. Last week it was white chili and I ended up cooking it on the stove and it wasn't nearly as tasty. I did it again today when I bought chicken breasts, black beans and salsa which I love to cook all day in the crock pot and shred for burritos. I am such a dingbat sometimes. Gotta replace that thing!

Wow! I didn't know those things did break. I know they always have 2nd hand ones at the thrift store. Granted they're usually 70's colors! But isn't that considered "vintage" now days?

Sounds like someone has a trip to Target coming up! Mine is a very large one, it has low/high and keep warm as the settings. It also comes with a vinyl insulated thing that you put it in if you need to transport it somewhere.

Thanks for the chuckles... between the condolences, maggie buying crockpot meals without a crockpot to the vintage crockpot option.. LOL!

It was a sad state, I filled it up with veggie soup and it started leaning backwards. I noticed the leg was bent, adjusted it and it snapped off!! I had to prop it up with a small corelle bowl overnight while the soup cooked.

It is made by Proctor Silex. Buying the same brand probably won't help, I'm sure it is made in a different factory. It was very simple with low, high and alternate settings.

You're right calimari, a Target trip is in my future.
