I am curious because I know this woman who bakes for fun and all of her recipes are so yummy. She will not share any of them. I think it's normal to have one secret recipe that is your specialty, but she won't share any of them. She won't even write them down. I was wondering if any of you guys have things that you will not share?

If I run across something that turns out pretty well than I like to pass it on!

Nope, I would share any recipe with anyone interested. I don't see why I would keep recipes to myself, it doesn't make sense to me.

My opinion is that unless you religiously enter cooking contests...what's the point in not sharing???

If I try something new, weather its just me and my own family....or a party with a big group of people...if everyone starts raving I can't wait to share....and always look forward to hearing if others got the big raves I did.

Noones gonna win a Noble prize for a recipe..so I dont see what they think theyre giving up

I have fun sharing recipes and seeing what other people think about it. Plus I LOVE getting new recipes from people here to try out. I have always made out really good with recipes off this website.

yes...just one...my grandmothers molasses cookies recipe...it took me 10 years of bugging her to get it out of her and she finally did but i had to promise NOT to tell anyone in the family it until she was gone( they are my dad's favourite cookies so i make them all the time when he comes to visit)...she is 90 now and i have kept my word( so far and people bug me for it)...i do share the cookies when i make them though...just not the recipe....

My mom used to cater and so cooking was her business. She would share her recipes, but would leave out her secret touches...I tend to do the same. give out the basic steps, but leave my secret ingredients out.

that makes sense, give the recipe but leave out what makes it yours, gives your recipe personalization and gives them a chance to spruce it up in their own way!
