...believe it or not....I AM....I am officially "ham-ed" to death...the rest hit the freezer today.

My dd is sick again(this has been our worst winter EVER I think as far as sickness goes )

the thermometer says 57 but it feels awfully chilly out still.....and the winds have been crazy here.

I so envy you all who are able to grill now....I can't hardly wait....I want a grilled meal so bad I can't stand it!!

I'M SICK OF WINTER FOODS

so in some sort of vain attempt to pull myself outta my funk....I am gonna force myself to try out a new "summer time"recipe this week....maybe a new pasta type salad...I am always lookin for new side dishes........

anyone wanna join in ??? or have any suggestions ???

I hear you! I'm in Iowa and its supposed to get up 48 deg. today. I'm tired of soups and casseroles. I want hot dogs and macaroni salad! I did make up a pasta salad this past weekend. Nothing fancy just: bag of tricolor pasta (cooked and drained), some grape tomatoes (whole) handful of bacon bits, packet of ranch dressing (make according to package directions), and cucumber cut up. Dh and dd loved it. HTH

I made a pesto pasta salad last weekend for Easter and it always makes me think of summer:
I use 1 box bow tie pasta, one creamy pesto packet (prepared normally), throw in some diced onion, chopped mushrooms, chopped red pepper, and top with parmesan cheese, serve cold.
Or you can do what I'm doing right now: eat some tortilla chips and fresh salsa (the kind from the deli section), the fresh tomatoes and peppers brighten up things.
Maybe just make a summer foods spread, some burgers and hot dogs, bbq chicken (I make my dh grill in 50 degree weather sometimes) pasta salad, chips and salsa, etc and have a cold beer or some iced tea, yum!
I'm sending you some sun! (it's about 63 and clear here today, the kind of sun that makes the ocean look blue )

I am so glad to hear that the Super Woman of Cooking is getting burnt out on cooking and coming up with ideas!!! I have been feeling that way since about a week before Easter. I want any type of food grilled out on the grill. I am in need of some warm weather and a pitcher of margaritas!!!

OH By the way. Checked out your photos on your gallery. I can not believe with all the food you make that you are as tiny as you are!!! So not fair! I would be the size of a whale if I was as good of a cook as you are!!!

I totally am with you - I don't want to look at my roasting pan or crockpot for a while! I want Chiavetta's grilled chicken and corn on the cob, cold iced tea and a fresh veggie-topped salad. I'm tired of heating my house to a zillion degrees making dinner every night. I told DH we are getting a grill this year - even just a little tiny jobby to put on the front stoop. It's annoying to have to run to the other side of his parents' house next door to grill (though they're more than happy for us to use it). I have a foreman, and it cooks things up just fine, but there is a certain taste of grilling that the foreman can't replicate.

I did put a meal on my list this pay period for grilled chicken, potato salad and fresh fruit. I don't care if I have to grill it under an umbrella in a snowsuit - I'm gonna have it!

I'm actually on a cooking roll right now. I finally printed out all the recipes I've been wanting to try and I've actually been making them. Sorry, I'm not much help. Buy some asparagus or strawberries to bring in the Spring.

Me too! And it is totally a winter food thing. I'm sick of spagetti and meatballs and casseroles! I want some grilled anything!
