There's one around here called "Simple Meals" (you can check it out on line at SimpleMeals.biz). There are also others elsewhere in the country, mostly in the cities I think: "Dream Dinners" is another one.

Really, I had a friend talk me into trying it out. The first time, I wasn't too impressed with the meals, particularly the vegetarian ones. I did it again, chose the meat meals, and they were better. I'd still say that about 1/2 the meals I try are great, the other half I could do better.

Essentially, it's a commercial kitchen where you have a choice of 10-15 different meals. You can choose small (2-3 servings) or large (5-6), and you have to do either 6 or 12 meals. I do 6 small. Even the small is usually two full dinners for us. The advantage is everything is prepped, cut. No cutting, no cleanup...take everything home & freeze, defrost and cook. Since I don't really do meat all that well, it's helpful.

It is pricey though, generally I average about $14 per meal (but I get 2 meals out of that). So I don't do it more than once every month or two.

This time around I did beef brisket, turkey with mushrooms, chicken stir-fry, roast chicken, stuffed beef, and chile rellenos. The meals are simple enough to do yourself really.

Thanks mm1970. I have a friend in another state who doesn't cook who is taking care of her two sick parents. I'm going to look into this for her.
