I was wondering, with Summer coming on, if we could start posting some of our tried and true, most favorite, "campfire" recipes. You know, those all-in-one-bag, or over-the-campfire recipes that we've tried while camping outdoors.

I've heard of a few Girl Scout/Boy Scout ones in the past, but can't find them now.

We plan on doing alot of camping this year, so I kind of wanted to start getting ideas about what I would cook over the fire.

Do you have any such recipes to share? Please do!!

And thanks in advance...

ETA: I realize that I could look this up on the internet, but wanted "Mommysavers Tried & True Favorites".

We have one that we call "hobo's" because you can put in it whatever you want/have.

Take a big piece of foil and put either a hambuger patty, piece of chicken or what ever meat you want to use in the center. Surround it with a potato that was cut into quarters. Then top with what ever veggies & seasonings you like. Wrap or "fold" up & seal. Put on the fire or grill until the meat & potatoes are done!

I know this isn't a new idea but it's one of our fav's.

another fun thing is get creative w/your smores!!!

Instead of graham crackers-shoot for actual cookies...heat a marshmallow between 2 oatmeal raisin cookies(YUM)or a chunk of choc(or even a mini snickers) between 2 peanut butter cookies...ugh TDF

Ya gotta have the little pie irons..cause seriously theres nothing you cant do with them!!Reg sand/desserts etc!!!Theyre a must!

We also tear the label off a can of chili w/no beans and cover loosely w/foil and let heat while cooking hot dogs on sticks to make chili dogs!(My family LOVES chili dogs!!!)

Man, woman!! You're on a ROLL!! These are all great!!

And the Chuckwagon site...THAT'S THE ONE I COULDN'T REMEMBER!! So, THANK YOU!! There are alot of great outdoor recipes on that site!! WHOO HOO!!

I love all the suggestions for variations on smores, too. My DD loves oatmeal cookies. I could make those ahead of time and use those!!

And yeah, I do have a pie iron, and LOVE IT!! (It's actually an antique one!!)That's a MUST-HAVE when going camping. That's for sure!!

I'm so excited now!! Going to start planning my menu for when we go!!

Thanks a BUNCH!!
