And I'm not talking about the old moldy stuff that should be in the compost pile!

I use mine to make bread crumbs. I grind them up (in my trusty Salad Shooter ), put them in a container and favor them with different spices and toss them in the freezer. I use the crumbs in my salmon patties and other casserole like dishes.

I'm just curious what others do.

I freeze mine for meatballs. I tear it up, put it in a ziploc bag and when I'm ready to use it, I let it defrost then mix it with milk, mash it up and it makes the best meatballs.

I also use it to make breadcrumbs in my food processor . . . meatloaf filler . . . on chicken dipped in egg whites, then pan-fried.

I also make croutons in the oven. A little olive oil and seasoning, and they're good to go. I store them in gallon size ziploc bags, and can freeze them if I make a lot. My family enjoys them as a snack right out the bag, as well as on soups and salads.

bread crumbs and croutons here also....you can even cube and dry plain for stuffing.

If its italian....when it JUST starts to harden a little I think that makes for the BEST french toast!!

We never have leftover bread, especially if it started out hot and fresh...Yum!

ETA: I guess I should say...we never have bread that has time to get old and do something else with it, but these are good ideas...I'll probably buy some bread and leave it out to make some of these things.
