For the past few days I've been reorganizing and decluttering my kitchen, and with being very disappointed latley with the quality of the bread I've been buying (dries out WAY too quickly before even half of it is used!) I decided to rearrange my kitchen in order for it to be easy for me to make my OWN bread!!

What I did was...First, I moved a shelving unit to butt up along the side of my fridge. Then I positioned my rolling, chopping block/island so that it was at a right angle to that. So now I have an L-shaped workstation.

On the shelves of the shelving unit I have placed all my flours (bread flour, etc.), my baking soda, baking powder, salt, yeast etc....and on the shelves of the island I have all my bakeware, bowls, measuring spoons, measuring cups, etc.

What's also nice is that the side of my fridge is where I can tack up all my bread recipes for quick, easy referance!! (MsJoyce's Homemade Biscuits being one of them!! )

What I tried to do is set everything up so that all I had to do is go into my kitchen, decide quickly what I was going to make, and have everything right there at my fingertips. I plan on starting this morning so I'll let you know how it goes.

My kitchen is only 9 X 10 feet. Which, I bet, is alot smaller than alot of the kitchens of most of our members. And there's a fridge, stove, and a 5 foot long "farm-type" sink. (Large sink in the middle with ribbed/drainer-type "counter tops" on both sides of it.) So, there's not even room for a small kitchen table in there...

I guess it's just all in what makes you happy.

So what have you made so far? And did you notice the clean up and prep was shorter time than before?
