This weeks letter of the week is ~*~ H ~*~


~hamburgers, hashbrowns, horseradish,haboneros, hot peppers,honey,herb~
~ham,hummus,halibut,haddock,honeydew,hummus~

or anything that goes with HOT....as in:

dogs
chocolate
fudge
peppers
wings
sauce
pockets
sausage

Anything from Haitian or Hawaiian to Handmade or Homemade,maybe even
Healthy,but please...

NO recipes for "HEADCHEESE"....ugh...that's just wrong...

Default Hearty Mans Beef & Barley Soup

2-3 lbs. hamburger, browned
1 tbsp. oil
8 c. water
2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 bay leaf
28 oz. can tomatoes
1 c. sliced carrots
1 c. sliced celery
1/2 c. chopped onion
1/2 c. uncooked barley
1 c. sliced potatoes

-Mix all together in large roaster.
-Put in oven.
-Bake for 2 hours at 350 degrees.
-If needed, add can of tomato soup and an extra quart of water.

1 can asparagus spears, drained or you may use fresh
8 thin slices fully cooked ham
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1/4 c. water

-Wrap each ham slice around 2 or 3 asparagus spears, secure with toothpicks.
-Place in ungreased 10x6 inch baking dish.
-Mix soup with water and pour over ham rolls.
-Bake uncovered at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes until bubbly.

Hot Fudge Pudding Cake
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 3/4 cups hot water
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9 inch square pan.
  • In a medium bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and cocoa. Stir in the milk and melted butter. Spread evenly into the prepared pan.
  • In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar and cocoa. Spread over the top of the batter in the pan. Pour the hot water over the entire pan of batter.
  • Bake for 45 minutes in the preheated oven. The cake is done when the cake part is on top and the bottom is of a pudding consistency.

1 c. packed light brown sugar
1 c. butter or margarins, softened
1 egg yolk
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 3/4 c. (10 oz.) Hershey's chocolate chips or chunks
1/2 c. choped pecans

-Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 13x9x2 inch baking pan.
-In large mixing bowl combine sugar, butter, egg yolk and vanilla. Blend in flour and salt.
-Press mixture into pan. Bake 25-30 minutes until lightly browned.
-Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle chocolate chips or chunks on crust. Let stand until softened, about 5 minutes. Spread evenly over crust and sprinkle with pecans.
-Cool completely and cut into bars.

Ultimate Sauerkraut Topping
---------------------------

1 (16oz)sauerkraut, drained and rinsed
1/4 c sweet pickle relish
2 Tbs brown sugar
1 Tbs prepared mustard
1/2 tsp caraway seed

Mix all and cook on low heat til heated through. Serve over hot dogs.(esp good if you smear some cream cheese on the bun first!)


****Leftover sloppy joes are good on hot dogs and help use up leftovers in a creative way.


SW Hot Dogs
-------------
Mix:
1 c finely shredded Cheddar cheese
1/2 c crushed tortilla chips
2 green onions, thinly sliced
3 Tbs salsa
2 Tbs mayo
1/2 tsp chili powder
1/4 tsp cumin

Split hot dog and stuff w/a few spoonfuls of mix and broil a couple min til cheese is melted.


Chili Dog Sauce
---------------
2 1/2 lbs lean ground beef
1 c water
1/2 c tomato sauce
1/3 c ketchup
1/2 Tbs salt
1/2 Tbs pepper
1 Tbs sugar
1 Tbs chili powder
crushed red pepper flakes to taste

Cook beef,stir in water, and mash w/potato masher or stick blender. Stir in tomato sauce, ketchup, salt, pepper, sugar, and chili powder; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low; simmer, 60 to 90 min,til the sauce reaches a med consistency.

1 c peeled and cubed horseradish root
3/4 c white vinegar
2 tsp sugar
1/4 tsp salt


In food processor or blender, process horseradish root, vinegar, sugar and salt. ~Carefully~ remove the cover,keep your face away from the container. Cover and store the horseradish in the refrigerator.

This sounds so easy. I grew up eating it and still like it to this day.

2 3/4 c. flour
2 c. sugar
1 c. chopped nuts
1 c. oil
1/2 c. coconut
1 c. mashed bananas
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
3 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 (8 oz.) can crushed pineapple with juice

-Combine flour, sugar, salt and baking soda. Add nuts.
-Add remaining ingredients and stir carefully by hand not with mixer. Stir until just blended.
-Pour into 2 well greased and floured loaf pans.
-Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until tester comes out clean.
