how long do boxed cereals stay fresh if sealed? i know a lot of people here stock up when there are sales, and I want to as well, but i am afraid they will go stale if they sit in the pantry for six months...

i called kellogg's a few months ago to ask that very question...their cereal lasts 6 months if sealed in the inner liner and stored in a cool and dry place.

When I buy it in bulk, I put cereals in airtight storage containers.

You have cereal in the cabinet for 6 months?

Ok, really. I think if its sealed it should last a while. If Kelloggs says 6 months, thats a pretty long time. But then, I go by the expiration date. If something I buy now has an expiration date of 12/08, I expect it to last til 12/08 if unolpened. KWIM.

I got rice krispies w/strawberries on sale w/coupons a while back, got a smokin deal and bought a ton of them...I opened the last box about 3-4 weeks past the expiration date and they were fine!!(and this too was after storing them about 5 months)

Check the exp on the box also...most of what I buy has quite a few months to go.
