This is one thing we've cut way back on!!

I now generally only serve rolls or other breads w/dinner if dh is home and even then only 1-2 times. But growning up my Dad was a bread n butter w/every dinner kinda guy so it was kind of a habit.

Certainly cheaper and probably better for ya

Only once in a great while. The kids have toast with breakfast maybe twice a day. Other than when we eat something that requires bread-hamburgers, hot dogs, than very rarely will I make up some bread with butter and jelly on it. Now if I had a bread maker, I know I would do it lots more.

Dh doesn't like any kind of pasta or noodle.

He wants meat, potatoes and bread at mealtime.

So usually there is either rolls, french bread, texas toast or homemade bread. Usually I just make enough for him.

We only use bread for sandwiches especially the presliced kinds.
I do serve french bread that I make into garlic toast when I have an Italian meal.

I will add, I think my mom considered buttered bread as a side dish, now that I think about it.

I hardly ever include bread with dinner unless it is a planned part of the meal - ie: hamburger buns. However, I do serve fruit with dinner. I only recently found out that some people think that's weird.

Except breakfast, and a lot of times even then, we serve fruit with every meal. It's a good way to make sure we're all getting our daily servings in plus we all like fruit. It helps keep our meals balanced as well.

As for bread, once in a blue moon we have it.

Only if we are having soup or stew and salad for dinner. Dh likes to dip a good crusty bread into his soup.
Besides that, only with meals like hamburgers, sandwiches, etc.
I remember always having a roll with dinner as a kid. The rule was I had to eat it last, that way I wouldn't fill up on bread.
