lick the beaters/spoon when you are baking?

I do, not alot, but I did as a child and it is fun!

I know that some raw eggs controversy, but....I still let her.

Only the older children. They are 11 and up. I do not let the 3 year old lick the spoon. The older children have a stronger immune system.

After my daughter hit about age three I did let her. I'll probably do the same with my son. It isn't a huge amount we're talking about but I still let her.

So does that mean you don't lick it yourself? LOL. Gross because it is raw eggs, or because it is messy? I don't let them lick while we mixing, just when all the batter is poured in. And then one gets the spoon, and the other gets the bowl.

Yes...it does. LMAO! I don't 'lick' any utensils at all. Ever. I think it's just a 'gross' in general, and falls under my own category of 'bad manners'. I never allowed my children to lick their fingers either...that's what napkins are for. It's a huge pet peeve of mine to see people licking their fingers. It's just gross IMO. I admit, I'm pretty much a stickler for proper behavior, even if it's just me and my kids in my own kitchen. It has nothing to do with the raw eggs. *shrug" My Mom would let us lick the bowl/spoon when we were growing up and I remember then, thinking it was gross! LOL!

I'm sure there are things that I do allow my children to do...that others don't. We're all different!

Ok Oregano is going to think I am a bad parent lol, but its how I got both of them to actually start eating mashed potatoes they wouldn't if I plopped on their plate but they would if I let them lick the beaters lol, so about 3x I served them the beaters on their plates and now they also will eat on their plate once they realized wow it really is the same. (I guess they didnt beleive me lol) batter if their around and they ask if not I dont even think about it I throw them in the sink!

Absolutely. I am one for manner too. But, it was such a treat when I was a kid. Don't know why I felt so special when grandma would give me a beater or a bowl to "lick" for that matter. But I'm passing that feeling down to my kids.
