My Mom used to make ox tail soup when I was a kid.I have no idea how to make it or even remember what all is in it.It is getting a little warm to make soup now.I might be able to make soup 1 or 2 more times and I think that will be about it.What do you like to make using ox tails?I looked at save a lot and they were pretty cheap there for a package of them.

Please share any idea's or recipes

Is it really the tail of an ox? I never heard of eating that.

My grandpa makes ox tail soup.. His is like bean soup with ox tail instead of pork hocks. He adds carrots, celery, onions and tops it with ketchup when he eats it.

They sound gross, but are really good. Some sort of simple braising recipe would be good. I have cooked them in a dutch oven with a little wine and onions before. Just let them cook slowly for several hours. The meat comes out very tender. They are from a cow, not really an ox. It's one of those old fashioned meats that used to be cheap, but usually isn't now. Kind of like skirt steak or lamb shanks.
