So---with food prices the way that they are I am turning to cheaper meat ie--ground turkey. Does anyone have any great recipes that use ground turkey? I am discovering quickly that all meals that call for ground meat do not taste even close with ground turkey. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I don't have specific recipes, but I usually substitute turkey in dishes where it can absorb the flavor of other ingredients, i.e., spaghetti sauce, chili or even burritos mixed with beans. Those tend to turn out well.

If I want more of a "beef flavor", I'll cook it with a couple of beef buillon cubes.

Also, I've found that turkey is a bit dry as compared to ground beef (also depends on how lean your turkey is), so you need to watch for that in your recipes.

Cheesy Barbecue Meatloaf

* 1.25 pounds 7% lean ground turkey
* 1/8 cup milk
* 1/4 cup ketchup
* 2/3 cups bread crumbs
* 1 egg
* 1 packet of onion soup seasoning (sometimes I just use 1/2 a packet)
* 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
* 1/4 teaspoon pepper
* 1 1/2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese

* 1/2 cup BBQ sauce for topping

DIRECTIONS

1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
2. In a bowl, mix the turkey, milk, ketchup, bread crumbs, onion soup mix, worcestershire sauce, and egg by hand. Season with pepper. Fold in shredded cheese Transfer to a loaf pan, and top with BBQ sauce.
3. Bake 1 hour in the preheated oven, or to an internal temperature of 165 degrees F.
