DH's grandmother passed away this morning after a long battle with MS. My SIL still lives at home (she's in college) and my father in law is a big, hungry man, so I know MIL is stressing about making meals (she mentioned it to me a few days ago) I would like to bring over atleast two complete meals but have NO IDEA what to bring.

FIL is diabetic. He still eats regualar foods... this weekend he had potato salad, pasta salad and burgers at my house, but I want to keep it on the healthy side.. I know I am going to throw together a big salad, but that's as far as I have gotten...

thanks for any help!

First I'm sorry to hear this news. I have made food for my DH family at a similar time. I have made lasagna but sounds like you want to go healthy or a bit lower cal. Try doing your salad with grilled chicken on it. You could do a bean salad, take some deli meat and fresh sandwich rolls for sandwiches. Maybe some whole wheat banana muffins for b-fast. I'm sure whatever you take will be appreciated during this hard time! Good luck

I am so sorry!
I have in the past bought one of those rotisserie chicken at the store and sliced it, then made mashed potatoes, and a salad. I put them in containers they can just heat up, I also threw in a can of crescents and a jar of gravy.

If you use low fat cheeses, a homemade baked macaroni and cheese is always good comfort food, and reheats well!!

One thing that I always think is appreciated is a lunchmeat/cheese tray with bread. People may not want to eat at the same time and this gives them the freedom to just grab something quick and without a lot of hassle.

The others gave you some good suggestions.

Just wanted to pass on my condolences to you and your family. My neurologist thinks I have MS, so I just wanted to tell you you are in my thoughts and prayers.

I think that everyone is on the right track. Lunch meats from the deli and some rolls would be great.
I wanted to say how sorry I am for your loss. My Mom has MS and I know how challengeing the disease can be.

Someone brought me a tray like this when my SIL passed away. All the out-of-town inlaws stayed with us, and it really came in handy. Otherwise, things they can heat-up when they are ready: sloppy Joes, enchiladas, shepherds pie, soups, stews. Or taco salad or 7-Layer salad...
