My son and I are going to be away next week, and being in my 1st trimester, I don't have the stomach or energy to prepare a bunch of meals ahead of time for DH. I thought I'd treat him to a bunch of frozen dinners. Not the kind like Lean Cuisines. I was thinking the ones in the bags? Like stir fries and pasta dishes that you toss in a skillet. I never get these, so I thought I'd ask y'all to see which ones your families prefer.

I also shop at Aldi, but I've never looked to see if they sold these. Is their brand any good? How are their frozen pizzas? I'm bummed that there isn't a Trader Joes around here, b/c they have the best prepared food I've tasted!

TIA

I have found I like most of Aldis frozen food. Not sure if I ever tried anything from the freezer section that I didn't like. Their icecream sandwiches are yummy. They have some serloin steaks that are wrapped seperately, that he would have to thaw before cooking, but they are a good price and taste good. A little thick though, I slice them in half lengthwise.
I am trying to think of which frozen stirfrys I have gotten for my family from Meijers. I can't think of them offhand. Birds Eye maybe?
My hubby will be alone next week too, but I think I am just going to leave him some grocery money and figure it out himself.

I'm afraid if I do that, he'll buy absolute junk...like Arby's curly fries and jamocha shakes. At least if I buy these skillet meals, he'll have to make the effort to pick away the vegetables rather than avoid them all together.

Have you talked to hubby?

The last time I left hubby home alone I was worried about his finding something to eat and prepared lots of groceries ahead of time. I came home to find none of the food used and lots of fast food bags in the garbage can.

Good question. Yeah, I talked to him. He said that if I didn't buy stuff with veggies in it, his GI tract will be in turmoil, since he's used to eating good fiber when I'm home. (So maybe that means he won't be shoving *all* the veggies to the side, lol.)

You can always buy some seasoned frozen veggie packets and precooked chicken---it is an easy stir-fry that way too

I like Marie Callender's frozen meals, Bertolli has great pasta meals, and Bird's Eye has a really good frozen stir fry veggies with teriyaki sauce, you could get some rice that you boil in a bag to go with it. I don't have an Aldi's in my area, sorry I can't help you there! I think Tyson makes a frozen stir fry kit that is pretty good as well.
