I found my problem was the many small trips to the grocers and taking my kids too (there are only 6 in our family).

I'd like to see how you do this month!!! I'd like to glean some shopping tips from you!!

I think this business of 'awareness' is half the battle( once we reckognize there IS a problem, that is!). Whether we need to cut waste from our budgets or our diets we can do something once we have some targets to work on.

I'm in for $600 this month. $500 for regular weekly grocery needs, and the $100 is allotted for stockpiling. So far I've spent $120.23 of the $500...leaving me with $379.77 left. I didn't find any good stockpiling/loss leader deals last week. Hoping this week will be a little better.

Is there any way to find this out other than just watching when items go on sale and keeping track?

I think the only way to find it out is to keep track of the prices.

I believe that Kim has stated somewhere on this site that it's typically a 6-week cycle???

Also, items typically go on sale by "season". For example, the Christmas holiday time is good to stock up on baking supplies. The summer holidays it's soda, meat, condiments. That being said, I didn't really find any good deals for the July 4th holiday, so I didn't stock up on anything besides bottled water and some soda .
