I believe Ryans_Mom takes things to her neighbors.....and I know some on here have done things through church happenings and such...anyone else ever do this?and if so what do you take?

I do alot w/my family.......I am making my Mom homemade bread today, and deliver banana bread, pumpkin bread, cookies and apple pies alot in the fall.

Last month I took my macaroni salad to 5 different homes of people in the family

Anyone else like to share??

There is an man in his 70's who wife died in Jan. He has no kids, so dh mows his grass and I fix his meals on Saturday and take them over and put them in the freezer for him. A lot of times I will just fix a plate each night from what we have for supper and freeze it and then take a weeks worth over and put them in the freezer for him. Of course I label each one.

Last night dh went and got him and he came over to eat supper with us.

Also, if somebody from our church has surgery or comes home from the hospital, a group of us take turns taking them their meals for about a week.

That is awesome! We just do things for our neighbors when they move in or have a need (illness, new baby, etc.). We also make cinnamon bread and deliver them on New Year's Day. We need to do more of this. Thanks for the reminder.

This is a great thread. I would love to do this. I have only done this for funerals in the past. I would appreciate any ideas.

I take things to friends who have just had babies, and do cookie/candy plates at Christmas. A boy from DS's 4-year-old kindergarten class (just this past school year) and his Mother were just in a serious car accident, and I thought I'd offer to bring them a meal once they are both home from the hospital. I share a lot from my garden with my friends and neighbors, and will do even more this year. We'll be gone for 2 weeks, so I'm going to tell them all to help themselves so that it doesn't go to waste!

I normally will give my mom & dad the leftovers of what I make for supper. Once in a while, I will make cream of mushroom soup, just for my mom, and take it to her.

Once in a while, I will make something like bread or cookies and take them to family members.

I should do more for my neighbors but I really don't know them well, so I mostly keep to myself.

I really only do extra baking around the holidays for family, friends and co workers. We do have one set of neighbors that are really nice, I should start to share with them too. Other than that, I do not know anyone else to share with.

Wow, that is really nice. It makes me kind of sad though, no one around here really does that kind of thing! Maybe I should be the one to start it.....

It reminds me when my first born was in the nicu for 2 months, dh and I ate out every night close to the hosptial (the cafeteria had weird hours) every single night, no lie. We could have really benefitted from people sending over a meal. The eating out definitely did not help our finances.

What very sweet stories you all have.....
